Bella is a gorgeous gentle Arab cross. She loves being around people and is wonderful with the smallest of children. She’s well used to dogs, chickens, and all sorts of farm traffic and is happy to live in or out. She is the sweetest pony who needs to find a home where she can enjoy horsey and human company. She was lame in December and had her coffin joints injected in her front feet. She has since been turned out without shoes to recover. She is currently field sound.

  • Most suitable home and loanee/owner/sharer

Bella would love a home where she can be pampered and have the company of both horses and humans! She is so so friendly and kind (not at all like the image of a chestnut mare). Out ridden she’s unflappable and used to our dogs running around her and the local farm traffic of tractors etc. She’d make a great family friend who could happily take the littlest of children up and down the lane for hours on end.

Relevant health or lameness issues

Bella went lame in December and it appeared to be a reoccurrence of an old coffin joint injury which had previously been treated with injections. We couldn’t claim on insurance but we paid for her to be injected again and she had 6 weeks box rest. Unfortunately when we gave her limited turn out after the box rest, it coincided with the very worst of the wet winter and the clay soil meant her recovery was hampered. We took the decision with the vet to turn her out for summer and she’s now field sound.

Veterinary examinations or treatment given in the past 12 months

Bella is field sound but the vet has said that she’s very unlikely to be fit for any jumping or strenuous pony club activities in the future. With shoeing she could possibly manage to hack out, especially on grassland, and this is something she would love to do. No further treatment is necessary at this stage, just to keep an eye on her weight and make sure she has regular trims/shoeing.

Pure Arabian Sire X Thoroughbred and she has 1/8 Irish Sports Horse. V similar to Anglo Arab: "...Refinement, bone and endurance of the Arabian, and the speed and scope of the Thoroughbred though they should not look entirely like either a Thoroughbred or an Arabian. They have a long neck, prominent withers, a short and strong body (more sturdy than the Thoroughbred), and a deep chest. They have fine heads, although not overly dished in profile, and have strong bone." Her breeding means she should her very suited to dressage and possibly endurance riding. Lovely, bold floating strides.
