We would like Lady to be rehomed with her companion, Mabel. See H4H4427773. This is a very reluctant rehoming. I have owned Lady for 13.5 years and enjoyed hunting, jumping and hacking with her. She is wonderful & has been so faithful and has always done me proud. She is excellent when being groomed and is used to dogs. I have decided to rehome her due to a persistent back injury meaning that I can no longer ride. I would keep her on grazing but she is a young 21 year old and still has so much to give.

  • Most suitable home and loanee/owner/sharer

She needs to be rehomed with someone with experience of horses. She is not for a beginner. Stables are a bonus but not a necessity as i have only ever brought her in during severe winter weather. Given the choice I think she would choose to be outside.

Relevant health or lameness issues

During the summer months she may suffer a flare up of sweet itch although I am keeping it at bay with a simple spray on solution which I apply three to four times a week.

Veterinary examinations or treatment given in the past 12 months

In June 2017 Lady received treatment at Rowe Equine, Gloucestershire. She developed an ulcer in her eye after catching it on a tree branch. It is now fully healed but she has slight greying of the eyeball. It has not affected her eyesight.

Please describe your horses behaviour in traffic

She is used to traffic. I have to cross a busy main road to get to local bridlepaths and have never had an issue. She is used to hacking on country roads with passing traffic. She could be spooked by very fast traffic but no more than any other sound horse.

Please describe your horses behaviour when hacking out alone and in company

She is very well behaved and used to hacking out alone and in company. She can be strong willed and may try to dominate her companion by trying to take the lead! Otherwise she is a little star and a pleasure to take out.

Details of any individual behavioural traits which may influence the type of person best suited to take on the horse

She is naturally strong both physically and mentally but still easy to manage.
