Lara is a lovely gentle mare who is exceptionally well mannered and easy to handle in all ways. She enjoys human company and always welcomes me when I come to the yard with a gently whinny. She was purchased five years ago as a general riding horse, which I hoped to use for riding club activities, but due to a number of lameness issues she is no longer suitable for riding.

  • Most suitable home and loanee/owner/sharer

Lara would be an ideal companion horse as she is well mannered and easy to handle, will live with either mares or geldings and is equally happy to be left on her own either in a field or a stable. She can live out all year round if suitably rugged and the ground not to deep, but would prefer to come in at night during the winter.

Relevant health or lameness issues

Lara lost her left eye in 2015 from uveitis - her other eye has not been affected and the loss of the eye does not affect her in any way. She was diagnosed with high suspensory ligament damage in both hind legs in 2016, from which she recovered and was then able to be hacked for the last two years. Unfortunately the damage has recently reappeared and she is no longer happy hacking.

Veterinary examinations or treatment given in the past 12 months

She has had a lameness examination.
