Please describe your horses behaviour in traffic
Roddy has always been fine in traffic .I have ridden him along main roads and through farms with tractors etc.He takes confidence from your voice. He is not great with large groups of cyclists but one or two passing buy is fine.Like all horses caution should be exercised at all time when riding on a road to protect them and rider.
Please describe your horses behaviour when hacking out alone and in company
Roddy is happy to go out alone or in company.Taking the lead /in the middle/or bringing up the rear.He will pretty much go over under or around any obstacle you come across. He is a lively ride and will some times leap and be silly but he does not try to get you off just showing excitement. The more he is ridden the quiter he becomes. He will work in the school to.
Details of any individual behavioural traits which may influence the type of person best suited to take on the horse
Roddy is a strong horse and if kept on the bit will pull up ok ,if let off the bit for a gallop you need lots of breaking space. He is fast and fun. Roddy needs a confident rider. I myself am in my fiftys and have enjoyed his quick pace but now am finding my back is not up to his strength. When worked regularly he is much better at stopping.
Details of the activities that the horse must not participate in due to previous injury
None
Details of any problems when being ridden
Roddy is on his toes quite a lot and leaps to the side rather than bucking or rearing. He is not a problem for the advanced rider but I think he would frighten a novice.
