Sid is a compete saint, very affectionate & very obedient to ride. He is well schooled (competed up to Elementary & gained 70%+ at BD Novice). He is a rosette machine at low-level dressage & would be an excellent schoolmaster for someone wanting to give it a go. He has a good pop in him but does like to risk assess fences so wouldn't have the bottle to jump bigger tracks. Once he gets into the swing of things, he enjoys jumping very much.
He has attended lots of PC rallies and takes good care of jockeys.

  • Most suitable home and loanee/owner/sharer

Sid would not be suitable for a thrill seeker! He is a leisurely chap and although he enjoys a good blast, most of the time he is quite sedentary. He is looking for a someone to enjoy some low-level dressage (he doesn't have the will or panache to move up through the levels), PC rallies, hacking, some wimpy SJ or XC. He is extremely easy to take care of and a total gent - he comes to call, loads himself, stands to be bathed/clipped/shod, etc. On this basis, he would suit someone as a first horse.

Please describe your horses behaviour in traffic

I am unsure of this as our hacking is off road. He is certainly not phased by any of the vehicles we come in to contact with.

Please describe your horses behaviour when hacking out alone and in company

Perfect in company. Does not get strong or fizzy. He can be a bit worried hacking alone but is currently hacked alone at least twice a week with no problem. He doesn't do anything naughty, he can just be a little worried/spooky sometimes. He does not get nappy.

Details of any individual behavioural traits which may influence the type of person best suited to take on the horse

Sid can worry sometimes under saddle - we describe him as a risk assessor! He needs his rider to tell him that everything is ok, to put their leg on him and he will get on with it. On that basis, he needs someone sympathetic. He has taught my 3 stepchildren to ride, so he does not take advantage of his rider, he does just genuinely worry about things sometimes.

Details of the activities that the horse must not participate in due to previous injury

No
