Steal is the first horse I have owned. He holds a special place in my heart and really is very special to me. He loves attention and being groomed. He is always happy to see you after a hard day at work. He is happy to live out or live in, he has done both. He is currently out in the day and in at night, which he quite enjoys during these winter months. He enjoys a bit of everything. He enjoys hacking and schooling. He enjoys jumping and xc but we do not do this regularly.

Relevant health or lameness issues

Steal has oesteoarthritis in his right hock which he was diagnosed with last January. This was caught very early on by the vet. He is currently doing very well during the winter months, now I have him in at night and out in the day. Steal will need his hocks injected as and when. He currently is fed a joint supplement in his feed every day. I am happy for you to call my vet and discuss. Steal can do everything as normal, as long as he is not pushed too far.

Veterinary examinations or treatment given in the past 12 months

Steals last hock injection was the end of October 2017.

Please describe your horses behaviour in traffic

Very good in traffic alone or with other horses.

Please describe your horses behaviour when hacking out alone and in company

Steal is good out alone or in company.

Details of any individual behavioural traits which may influence the type of person best suited to take on the horse

Steal is good in traffic, good to clip and good to box. He can be grumpy around food if he is with other horses. If he is in the field, I usually feed him his hard feed outside the gate. If there is hay in the field shared between other horses and it is separated in piles or in a feeder, he is fine

Details of the activities that the horse must not participate in due to previous injury

Jumping or xc weekly. Can jump and xc as long as it isn't all the time.

Explanation whether this horse is simply a good doer or whether he is prone to laminitis

He is a good doer but he always shared a field with other horses, so may need restricted grazing if he is putting on too much weight. He is currently in at night and out in the day.

Details of any problems when being ridden

Sometimes naps to be with his friends if he is out. He can buck when excited but very rarely!
