Fred is a 15.1hh 10 year old Piebald Irish Cob.  He is good in traffic and safe and sensible in groups. He is looking for a loan home where he can enjoy light hacking, Trec, sponsored rides etc.  He is lovely to hack being forward but not strong and is always keen to get out and about.  He will happily load and travel and is very calm on arrival.   He has previously done eventing but can no longer gallop and jump due to arthritic changes. He has no vices and has been ridden by three generations of the same family.  Good to clip, box, shoe, do teeth etc

Fred should not be jumped and speed work should be rare.  He will need a lighter rider of no more than 70kg in weight.  He will come with full tack and all his rugs.

Health Issues

Vaccinations are next due on 1st March 2022.  Fred has a torn meniscus in his stifle which has caused arthritic changes in his stifle and sacroiliac. He also has mild kissing spine but too mild to require medication.  The vet does not want him to continue eventing but is confident that he can be a wonderful hacking horse.  All medical history declared and xrays open to viewing.

Ideal Home

Fred is looking for a home with at least one other horse/pony.  He enjoys being kept busy so should be ridden ideally twice a week if not more.  He is looking for a hacking home and enjoys trips out to sponsored rides, local woods, beaches etc.  He is sociable and enjoys group rides with other horses.  He would enjoy Trec or Liberty work as it would keep his brain busy.  He enjoys living out but will need a proper shelter or ideally a stable to sleep in during the wetter and colder months.  He will require a good joint supplement and annual checks from the vet to monitor his arthritis.
