We bought Basil a year ago to break in, bring on and sell.  Just as he was ready to go to a new home, he had an issue with his eye- see below.  This is recovered but we now feel we need to make sure he goes to a home where he will be cared for properly if he ever needs further treatment in the future. (Which may or may not be needed)

Rising 5 Cob gelding 13.1 (still a little bum high)
Gorgeous floaty paces and presence
Masses of potential to be all rounder/pony club
Fully vaccinated/ wormed/teeth/feet trimmed
Professionally broken to ride last April and brought on slowly
Currently being hacked, schooled and attending clinics/arena hire 3-4 times a week
Plenty of long reining/lunging/groundwork done
Hacks really well alone and in company- not spooky and will go first or last
Not strong or silly
Good in traffic
Snaffle bit at all times
Good to catch/lead/groom/travel
Can be warey of farrier- but fine if they are quiet and gentle with him
Lives in or out
Has started schooling and jumping- proving very brave and has jumped everything first time so far
Needs an experienced home to continue his education- he was pretty nervous when we started him, so he may need extra time yo get used to his new owners.
He has been ridden away by adult riders with everything done correctly

Basil is proving to be an easy straight forward riding pony after a nervous start to his education.  He is willing and tries to please.  He still needs further schooling as he is only 4, he is not yet a school master and will need to take confidence from his rider.  He is a sturdy little cob.  We have tack and rugs that can be for sale to the new owner for a reasonable price.

Health Issues

All vaccinations are up to date.  He has had his teeth checked, feet trimmed etc.  He is currently in excellent health. Basil had a trauma to his right eye (in the field) which gave him an ulcer and inflamation of his eye (uveitis)  He has been successfully treated with antibiotic drops followed by steroid drops and the eye recovered.  At the time it was very serious and had to be treated quickly with a line into his eyelid to make sure the drops could be administered.  He had to be kept inside with his eye covered.  His eye will now be sensitive and he must wear a fly mask in the field to protect him from bright light and insects. (he will come with this).   This may or may not happen again, but any new owner must be aware and be prepared to use the mask, consult the vet/treat it asap if needed. The vet is Durham Equine Practice.

Ideal Home

Experienced knowledgable home where he can continue his education with a competent rider.  There will need to be access to a stable and owners who will monitor his eye and act quickly if it ever flares up.
